This Chardonnay is from a half acre planting of Dijon 548 clone. This clone is a precocious ripener, often harvested before Pinot noir. Clusters and berries are both small in size, leading to naturally low crop levels and intense aroma and flavor. The vineyard is managed by Taylor Varuska. Mark Gould serves as the vineyard consultant.
This wine is barrel fermented and barrel aged. Throughout the aging process the wine remains with the original yeast, creating a beautiful glycerin based mouth feel. The oak is very integrated and the focus of the wine is bright mineral based with excellent acidity and etailed qualities of tropical and citrus notes.
